Canto is a new restaurant concept in Puerto Vallarta celebrating Hong Kong and Cantonese cuisines by Henry Ho and Jeremy Reigel.
Canto, short for Cantonese and also meaning song in Spanish, aims to bring something unique and different to Puerto Vallarta. Offering a selection of dim sum, American and Canadian takeout favorites, and iconic dishes from Hong Kong cafés known as cha chaan teng, Canto promises to take diners on a far-east journey without leaving paradise.
Henry was born in Hong Kong and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles. After having lived there for most of his life, in 2016, he decided to move to his favorite destination in the world, Puerto Vallarta.
Even though life is amazing in Puerto Vallarta, one thing missing was the food he grew up with, and he was determined to be the one who brings it to this beach town.
Armed with his passion for cooking and training from New School of Cooking in Culver City, California, he began developing the restaurant’s concept and recipes during the pandemic. Four years later, he is finally ready to introduce Puerto Vallarta to authentic Cantonese and Hong Kong cuisines.
Prior to Canto, Henry had a boutique marketing and graphic design firm based in Los Angeles for over twenty years.
Jeremy is a Los Angeles native who has also lived in Northern California, Kansas City, and most recently, Dallas prior to moving to Puerto Vallarta.
He visited Puerto Vallarta on vacation in 2018 and immediately fell in love with the city. After meeting Henry on that same trip, it was an easy decision for him to move here to be with him and live in this magical place.
With his background in the restaurant industry and his devotion to making sure guests have memorable experiences, it was natural that Jeremy would be in charge of the front of house operations of the restaurant. Additionally, our specialty cocktail menu was developed by him.
Besides Canto, Jeremy manages the daily operations of our vacation rentals, Cárdenas Suites, where he caters to our guests’ needs and making sure they feel like family and that everything runs smoothly. As if that’s not enough, he is also a real estate adviser with Century 21 Ocean Realty.
